MXON – The Press Team Presentation of Team Belgium
This coming weekend we will have the 71st edition of the Motocross Des Nations in the British Matterley Basin. So on Friday we already received the Teams Presentation for the official start of the Motocross of Nations. Team Belgium was represented by Team Manager Joel Smets, Kevin Strijbos, Jeremy Van Horebeek and Brent Van Doninck for their press chat.
Team manager Joel Smets: “We have a good team and are very motivated to get started. We are slowly getting used to having to adjust the team at the last minute after the injury of Clement and Julien, just like the teams from France and the US, but fortunately we have a team that is ready for a can compete for a podium position.”
Jeremy Van Horebeek (MXGP): “This is a race that I really enjoy and we still have a good team. I feel very good on the new Yamaha and of course the boys feel ready for it too. I am therefore looking forward to this weekend with confidence. If Kevin and I can do two good series, then Brent just needs to get one good result and then a podium place is possible again.”
Kevin Strijbos (Open Class) : “This obviously means a lot to me that I can be part of the team again. I think the circuit is great and it is perhaps one of the most beautiful circuits in the world. My speed has been getting better and better in the last Grand Prix's and hopefully I can make good starts here and achieve great results for the team.”
Brent Van Doninck (MX2) : “This is the second time for the team before me and again called at the last minute. Now I can ride my own bike, while last year I had to compete on the 450. Now I can ride my trusted 250 again and my speed has been going in the right direction in recent weeks. I am of course more relaxed now and also have more confidence this year, especially because last year was the first time I started the MXON and that is a very special feeling.”
