USGP: Michele Cervellin debuts 2018 CRF250RW
The performance of Michele Cervellin (HRC Honda MX2) is being watched with more than usual interest today and tomorrow. The 21-year-old Italian had a very inconsistent season and never lived up to expectations after a solid preseason redeem. In Lommel, Honda presented the new CRF250R, a completely new motorcycle that takes a radically new direction for Honda. Cervelling may debut this weekend with the CRF250RW, the factory motorcycle that is derived from the standard CRF250R.
During a factory test in Sugo, Japan, Cervellin immediately proved to be 2,5 seconds faster on the new 2018 CRF250R compared to the 2017 model. A world of difference, in other words. The new Honda MX2 engine follows the same 'Absolute holeshot' principles as the CRF450R that was launched last year. Compared to previous models, 'Big Red' now focuses heavily on motor performance in addition to excellent handling. Now that HRC has overhauled the engine for competition at the highest level, expect fireworks! Cervellin's best result was fifth place in Qatar, where he finished sixth one heat.
