MCLB: David Segers champion, Wietse Brackman winner of the day!
After a strong championship, David Segers (Standing Construct-Geeco Bikes KTM) took the crown today in Pamel. Segers only needed a third and second place to secure the Inters MX1 title in the MCLB! However, Wietse Brackman did everything in his power to keep his chances intact. Wack Bracko dominated both series. The curtain also fell on the championship in MX2, where Tim Vandriessche took the title ahead of Jérôme Biets.
The 2017 MCLB championship took place on the technical and hilly circuit of the Heideberg in Pamel. Wietse Brackman fought like a devil in a holy water font! In the first heat he won a strong one Kevin Fors and David Segers. In the second heat Wacko Brackman repeated his demonstration. Once again there was no problem with the Leon Sagaert-Husqvarna rider. He crossed the finish line 15 seconds ahead of title rival Segers!
Jurgen Wybo, a nice third today and third in the final, also takes the final podium at the expense of Maarten Govaert. Also Mattis Meerschout produced a remarkable performance today. After switching to Honda for a long time and only getting back on the bike for a few weeks, he finished a brilliant fourth thanks to a 7th and 5th place. Fors dropped out in the second moto. At the Inters B, Nicky Vermoesen achieved a surprising victory.
Below is the reaction of an overjoyed person David Segers!
One look at the final score in the MX1 championship makes it clear how close it was. The difference between Segers and Brackman is just two points. Wietse was so close, but he proved to be a worthy loser. Brackman said afterwards: “I did everything I could to win the championship, but unfortunately. For today I achieved my goal by winning the last two heats. The difference at the finish is barely 2 points, which is a shame. I would have really liked to win the championship, but David was just that little bit stronger this year.”
