ISDE: Team France home win, Netherlands seventh!
This afternoon the French team confirmed what we had actually known for a whole week. France was clearly the strongest team in front of their home crowd with Loïc Larrieu, Jeremy Tarroux, Christophe Nambotin and Christophe Charlier. They also won for Australia and Finland. The revelation in World Trophy was perhaps Team Netherlands, which finished brilliantly seventh!
Loïc Larrieu led the French team in tough conditions. The Yamaha pilot wan the scratch in E2. On the fourth day the French suffered a setback with a crash for Christophe Nambotin who hurt his hand. Nambotin pulled through and although Team Frans had to give up some ground to pursuers Australia, the difference was still large. The Australians with Sherco top performer Matthew Phillips, Daniel Milner, Daniel Sanders and Joshua Green won day five.
A final ranking for the Belgian World Trophy team was no longer possible after Jilani Cambré's injury on day one. Andrew Leloup, 28th in E2, Bertrand Bailleux 26th in E3 and Jerome Martiny 27th in E1 finished. Team Netherlands performed consistently with a team that was evenly matched. Lucas Dolfing sent his TM to a 14th place in E3, Thierry Pittens finished 21st in E2 and thus improved by 3 places Robin Nijkamp. Bas Kleine Haneveld finished 28th in E1
Anyone who leaves the ISDE is a bear!
The fact that after four days of competition more than 200(!) riders of the 800 starters had already dropped out shows how demanding these Enduro Olympic Games were. Jarne De Schaepmeester did well in Brive-La-Gaillarde. The Flemish Brabander finished 35th in E2, his Junior teammate Matthew Vanoevelen finished 25th in E1. Check out Jarne's triumphant arrival filmed here by supervisor Marc Bosmans. Congratulations to the entire Belgian team!
