Herlings now also wins the Grand Prix of USA
Jeffrey Herlings has postponed Antonio Cairoli's championship party for another week. In the first series, Herlings finished second behind home rider Eli Tomac, but in the second series he took victory after a mistake by leader Antonio Cairoli. In the standings, the difference between leader Antonio Cairoli and Jeffrey Herlings is now 96 points and Cairoli must wait until next weekend in Assen to win his ninth world title.
Jeffrey Herlings takes his fourth GP victory in the MXGP class this season in Jacksonville. In addition to Herlings, home driver Eli Tomac finished on the podium as number two with a series victory and a third place. Antonio Cairoli, who finished third and second in the series and is therefore four points short of winning his ninth title, still finished number three on the final podium of the American Grand Prix.
Belgians nicely in the top ten, with Kevin Strijbos standing out...
Our compatriots Clement Desalle and Jeremy Van Horebeek crossed the finish line in the top ten in the first series, while Kevin Strijbos was forced to retire just before the halfway point of the race. In the second series we got to see the old Strijbos again and that resulted in an excellent fifth place. Clement Desalle took eighth place and Jeremy Van Horebeek crossed the finish line in ninth place.
