The curtain falls for Kawasaki MX2 factory team!
As has been in the air for some time, there is now official confirmation that the Kawasaki MX2 factory team is calling it quits. Jean-Jacques Luisetti's team has had tough years. Ironically, it just took a first major title last weekend with Morgan Lesiardo in the EMX250.
Team manager Luisetti stated: “Kawasaki is stopping the official Mx2 factory program for 2018 for economic reasons. This year Kawasaki had a lot of injuries and the withdrawal of Monster Energy was on top of that. As a result, Kawasaki had to take a step back. We are very happy and grateful for the many wonderful years!” It is not yet clear to everyone what will happen to the team's current drivers. Stephen Rubini will return to Silver Action KTM in the MX2 World Championship. Adam Sterry is in turn associated with F&H Kawasaki. For Petar Petrov, who has to switch to the MXGP, it will be an anxious wait. Also about a new team for European champions Morgan Lesiardo nothing known yet.
Jean-Jacques Luisetti will from now on focus on advising riders, teams and sponsors as a manager. He will also work as a consultant for 613 company, a parts distributor that also distributes the electric motorcycle brand Kuberg.
