VLM Opglabbeek: Jens Van Meer continues to win
The Novices MX1/MX3A, Recreational, Juniors Open, Nationals Open and sidecars completed their championship tests in Opglabbeek. Remarkably little interest for the organization of PR Racing Team, but Jens Van Meer is doing well. After all, the CKP Racing-MX Topshop pilot won both heats!
No Kenny Janssens in Opglabbeek because he had become ill during the week and was prescribed a week of flat rest by the doctor. Of course, an important tenor had died last Sunday with Wouter Van Massenhoven's shoulder injury. The fact that this turned into a tourist trip for Van Meer is an exaggeration! In the first series he beat training fastest Jonathan Banken and Dimitri Van Der Sanden.
Once again Jens would win the second heat with more than 22 seconds ahead, but Greg Smets still put the heat on him! The Denicol-KTM rider played leapfrog with Van Meer several times in the first laps to eventually finish second. In combination with his fourth place in the afternoon, 'The Smekke' finished second, just like in Genk two months ago. A regular Dimitri Van Der Sanden (2-3) finished third at the Inters MX1. Jonathan Banken (WMX-Yamaha) underlined his dominance in MX2 with two victories, Kevin Schellens and Enzo Aerden finished second and third respectively.
The 1 junior MX2017 champion was already known in Opglabbeek. Jeff VanHoof took the title in style with two series victories.
