The Bullit makes history in the AMA!
It took a while before Jeffrey Herlings could win his first AMA National, but he did it in style today! The three-time world champion just rode to a stunning series victory in the Ironman National. Marvin Musquin did what he could and came in second.
Championship leader Eli Tomac took the holeshot and had Baggett behind him, but Jeffrey was well into third. Herlings immediately went on the attack and took over the lead!
Tomac made a dramatic mistake when he wanted to maintain contact with Herlings and fell back to sixth place! Not a hard crash, but the Monster Energy Kawasaki pilot did sustain damage to his clutch lever. Jeffrey was able to drive around unthreatened for about 15 minutes, but Marvin Musquin saw his opportunity. Musquin tried to put pressure on Herlings but was too far away to launch an attack. Ultimately, 'The Bullit' won by 8 seconds.
As a result, the decision on the championship will only be made in the very last round. Before the drop of the gate of the last race, Tomac has a 24 point lead over both Musquin and Baggett!
