Sacha Coenen wins Rookies Cup!
The Coenen brothers continue to work hard. Last weekend the prestigious 24MX Rookie's Cup in Sable d'Olonne was on the program. Sacha Coenen (Team CJT) showed off his calling card with a resounding overall victory in the 65cc. Sacha won three heats and took three holeshots!
Year after year, the Rookie's Cup formula gets better and stronger. After all, the French Rookie's Cup is not just a competition, it is a combination of training, internships and a final competition weekend. This year, no fewer than 600 riders came to the Chateau d'Olonne circuit in the Vendée. As always, the internships were of a high standard, with teachers Serge Guidetty (multiple French champion) and Seb Tortelli (two-time world champion), the MX Rookie's once again lived up to their qualitative reputation.
It is therefore clear that a strong performance or a victory in the Rookie's Cup looks good on the record of every youth rider. The Belgian Sacha Coenen was the reference in the 65cc this year. With 3 victories and one second place in the heats, Sacha started as favorite in the Superfinal. He led Sacha with an 18(!) second lead over the second until he ran into problems on the penultimate lap with a doubled rider. Ultimately, Sacha came third in the Superfinal.
Brother Lucas didn't really have his weekend. He came third in timed training on Saturday, but his starts did not work out in the heats. That's why it had to be done Lucas Coenen settle for 9th place in the daily rankings. On August 26 and 27, Sacha and Lucas Coenen will be present again during the ONK in Halle and Borculo.
