Preview: MX party at Keiheuvel August 15!
Anyone who says August 15 will automatically end up at the International Motorcross of the Keiheuvel in Balen. KMC Mol will then receive, as usual, the world's top motocross riders on one of the toughest sand circuits in the world! The strong field of participants with eight(!) factory riders can safely be called a mini-GP.
Anyone who knows Keiheuvel and has ever been there will definitely come back. Anyone who enjoys top sport, fun and spectacle should visit the Keiheuvel International Motorcross - also known as Flanders Motocross mentioned - have definitely experienced it. The loose sand of 'de Kei' and the challenging circuit make the Balense circuit one of the most unique courses in the world. This makes it an absolute classic in Belgium and a reference for riders who excel in the sand. This also always results in tough competitions in the secondary classes!
On the honors list It is no coincidence that you only come across the absolute world top at KMC Mol: Jeffrey Herlings, Shaun Simpson, Kevin Strijbos, Ken De Dycker, Steve Ramon, Clément Desalle, Marc Dereuver, Stefan Everts, Joël Smets, etc.
Jasikonis? Nagl? Febvre? Paturel? Strijbos? Simpson?
The above title is probably the clumsiest in living memory, but who knows who will win the titanic battle on the Keiheuvel? The fastest sand rider in the world, Jeffrey herlings of course, there is no attendance in Balen this year. In terms of tension, this is rather a plus because no one is actually a match for 'the Bullit'. But from the group of riders at the start on the Keiheuvel, all the top riders can handle the sand excellently: Suzuki is counting on Armin Jasikonis en Kevin Strijbos. Yamaha sends a quartet of guns with Romain Febvre, Benoit Paturel, Brent Van Doninck and the returning one Shaun Simpson who won last year. Also the Husqvarna factory riders Max Nagl, Thomas Covington en Yentel martens have the qualities to shine next Tuesday!
24MX Honda is counting on ex-Keiheuvel winner Ken Dycker en Damon Graulus, last year's revelation in Balen. Almost all sub-toppers from the Belgian side are present: Kenny Vandueren, Jeremy Delincé, Jeffrey Dewulf and of course also the club and regional pilots Jens Getteman, Greg Smets, Kenny Vandueren, Dennis Verbruggen, Andy Truyts en Kristof Salaets. The Keiheuvel is still too early for Balenaar Jago Geerts after his unfortunate fall in Lommel. Also the Swedish sand hare Philip Bengtsson, third in 2015, is back!
