Photo shoot: Shaney Truyts
Photographer Dieter Jans recently did a fun photo shoot with none other than Shaney Truyts, and for once she exchanged her helmet and motocross clothes for a beautiful, radiant white dress. Curious about the result? View and enjoy this fun photo series now.
How did you actually start with motocross?
Shaney Truyts: “I started motocross thanks to my father. He once bought a motorcycle for my stepbrother, and at one point he asked if I wanted to try that too. That's actually how it all started.”
Is there anyone you look up to as an athlete?
Shaney: “I really look up to my father. He has managed to achieve so much, such as Antwerp champion, BLM champion, FAM champion,... while he actually did not have the resources that I now have thanks to him.
What would you like to achieve as a motocross star?
Shaney: “I would like to get as far as possible. Getting the chance to compete in the WMX would be really fantastic.”
If you weren't racing what sport or activity would you do?
Shaney: “Before I started motocross I rode horses, and I probably still would if I didn't ride. Although I think combat sports such as MMA are also worth it. I think that should provide a huge kick.”
What do you like to do when you don't have to go to the cross country for a weekend?
Shaney: “I usually just train with the bike, but sometimes I also do something with my best friend. Usually it is about cross-country skiing, but sometimes we also go to an amusement park or see a movie.”
Are you actually concerned with your appearance during a cross weekend?
Shaney: “If I have to drive myself, I don't really worry about that, but if I'm just going to watch a race then I would dare to put on a bit of make-up.”
And next to the cross?
Shaney: “Gosh, that's only when I really have to go somewhere. Other than that, I don't really spend much time on that at all.”
How would you describe your clothing style?
Shaney: “I would rather call my clothing style varied. One day I can dress really femininely, and the next day I just grab the first thing from my closet to wear.”
Finally, what do you prefer to do on an evening out with friends or racing?
Shaney: “Without a doubt, racing, going out is fun, but I much prefer to be on my motorcycle!”
