VLM: Van Meer and Janssens rule in Rijkevorsel
Today the 10th round of the Championship was held in Rijkevorsel at the VLM. Kenny Janssens and Jens Van Meer, the tenors at the top of the Inters MX1, kept each other in balance at the Bolksedijk. Championship leader Janssens won the first round, Van Meer the second. Although they had the same number of points, the better second round of the CKP Racing-MX Topshop rider was the deciding factor. Wouter Van Massenhoven emerged as runner-up with two second places.
A proverbial postage stamp or less so much (or rather little) there was between poleman Jonathan Banks and Jens Van Meer in the time training. The 0,009 second rapper who was the MX2 leader rapper turned out to be no coincidence! Because also the difference with the third Wouter Van Massenhoven and the fourth, Kenny Janssens, was minimal at 0,153 and 0,334 seconds respectively.
The qualifying session was already a boost for Jens Van Meer. On Friday evening, David Cools' pupil had come down with the flu. Jens may have looked a bit pale, but he still persevered! However, he had to leave the first series to Kenny Janssens. Kenny showed that he is not only regular but also has the speed to drive to the title! After all, the Racing Center KTM pilot was in the lead from start to finish. There was indeed a spectacle behind Janssens Wouter Van Massenhoven had to release his demons after a mediocre start. Van Masssenhoven came back excellently and almost finished in the wheel of Janssens. A completely orange podium would have been included because it also started quickly Steven De Beuckelaer came out well. Ultimately, he had to give up on Van Massenhoven and Van Meer, which meant he finished third. Van Meer was third, one second behind Van Massenhoven!
In the second series Janssens was again on top. However, the early leader immediately got Van Meer behind him. Jens already defeated Janssens in the first round. However, Kenny did not give in easily, but Van Meer - again the fastest in the race - was able to take maximum advantage of two inferior laps from Janssens. In addition, the CKP Racing rider received an additional buffer with Van Massenhoven who moved up to second after four laps. Van Meer ultimately crossed the finish line 9,2 seconds ahead of Wouter. In the MX2 Kevin Schellens the surprising winner for Kristof Scheynen and Enzo Aerden.
Rijkevorsel was therefore a boost Jens Van Meer but in the Championship standings, Kenny Janssens remains firmly in the lead with four laps to go. The difference remains unchanged at 40 points. The thriller continues next weekend in Kampenhout! In Rijkevorsel the MC Kaneka club riders the best of themselves. Kenzo Buys (11-10) finished brilliantly sixth in the MX1. So Hens was crowned winner of the Newcomers MX2!
