MXGP transfers: Brian Bogers to HRC-Honda?
As previously announced, Evgeny Bobryshev's stay at HRC-Honda will not be extended. As a replacement, Honda wants a younger rider who can continue to grow. Benoit Paturel's name was often quoted for this second place next to Tim Gajser. Still, there seems to be a very good chance that Brian Bogers will be able to take a seat on the second factory Honda in the MXGP!
The information that MXMag received from a good source was confirmed yesterday by this message from our Moto Verte colleague Pascal Haudiquert. Although Benoit Paturel is frequently mentioned in the proverbial rumor mill as a replacement for Bobryshev, in reality negotiations never even took place. The reason for this is simple; HRC had already chosen another driver.
With Brian Bogers HRC Honda would choose an (even) younger rider. In principle, Brian can ride MX2 for another two years, but the large - and heavy by MX2 standards - Bogers certainly has the capabilities to excel on a 450. This became clear earlier HSF Logistics Motorsport, the current team of Brian Bogers, is talking to Honda about a possible collaboration. With a new, high-performance CRF250R, 'Big Red' wants to do everything it can to appear as strong as possible next year.
Since HSF is also a personal sponsor of Jeffrey herlings is, Moto Verte is also considering a possible transition from The Bullit to red. “We know that relations between Jeffrey and his team are not always idyllic. And we also know that HSF is one of his (many) personal sponsors. This also revives the old rumor that HRC dreams of attracting the Dutchman.” But as always, we have to wait for an official message before the fire associated with the smoke can be confirmed!
