Facchetti, Wade and Van Erp Jr. world champions!
This weekend the Junior World Championship was contested on the beautiful Lange Motokeskus circuit in the 85cc and 125cc championship. In the 65cc class they went looking for the “Junior World Cup” winner.
The Dutch were well represented with four pilots among these little guys, and one of these four also won the main prize. Ivano van Erp managed to win both heats and with the maximum of points behind Mads Fredsoe Sorensen and the Japanese Kayden Minear. Anyone looking for Belgians in the 65cc class was in for a treat. No wonder considering we don't have a separate 65cc class within our national FMB-BMB federation.

In 85cc class we saw the towering favorite for the title Jett Lawrence drop out with an injury before the weekend. Australia's title hopes injured themselves in a final test in Estonia. This ensured that this one-day match for the world title became a match with many favorites. Once again our northern neighbors, who have been involved in youth work for years and which are clearly paying off, had an iron in the fire. The KNMV was looking forward to Kay Karssemakers. The young man from the HMX Racing team unfortunately ended up on the lowest podium spot. This behind the Swede Noel Nilsson and the British Eddie Wade. Other well-known names in the overall standings included Florian Miot, often active in Belgium, who finished fourth overall. As the only participating Belgian, Liam Everts finished a more than creditable eighteenth place as a first-year 85cc pilot!

De 125cc class we were looking forward to the Frenchman Brian Moreau but also to Mikkel Haarup. Although there were also privateers on the coast and one of these privateers took the title today. The Italian Gianluca Facchetti, who hovered between life and death last year after an accident with his van. Showed that this is all in the past and that he is back among the best in the world with a double series victory, he outpaced Mikkel Haarup and Kevin Horgmo. Frenchman Brian Moreau and Rene Hofer completed the top five. Rick Elzinga and Raivo Dankers finished well in ninth and tenth place. For us it was also a matter of searching for Belgians with a magnifying glass in this class and ultimately not finding any.
