VLM Genk: Day victories Thomas Vermijl and Kenny Janssens
No overwhelming in terms of the number of participants in Genk, despite the championship matches in various classes, including the Inters. In the MX2, Thomas Vermijl rode to his second consecutive victory. Kenny Janssens consolidated his leading position in the MX1. Janssens only needed two second places to beat Jens Van Meer (5-1) and Wouter van Massenhoven (4-7)!
It is a pity to note that the replacement campaign 'Pulderbos' organized by the organizing clubs and VLM could only count on a moderate turnout. However, the matches were more than interesting enough… And Kenny Janssens nor did he let it touch his heart. The Racing Center KTM pilot went from four to two in the first moto. He took the holeshot in the second moto but had to give up Jens Van Meer. Although it is not exactly his favorite circuit, Van Meer still finished with a series victory. In the first race the first five literally finished on a handkerchief. There were less than 6 seconds between winner Vermijl and Van Meer!
Wouter Van Massenhoven was not only on the podium, he is now on the podium in the standings, at the expense of Steve Seronval. However, the man of the day was Thomas Vermile. The 21-year-old Raths Motorsport-Kawasaki rider overtook the 450s on his KX-F 250 in the first moto. Dietger Damiaens and Greg Smets were among those absent in Genk. Stijn Verstrepen. De Streep had two good starts and finished his first race with a top-10 finish. However, things went wrong in the second moto with a big fall in which Stijn hurt his back and suffered a mild concussion. We wish him a speedy recovery!
Kept in the MX2 Jordi van Mieghem and championship leader Jonathan Banks each other in balance. Thanks to a better second round, a good 4th (!) place overall, Van Mieghem became 2nd in the MX2 after Vermijl.
