Tomac and Osborne best sand devils in Southwick
Eli Tomac (450) and Zach Osborne (250) were the top sand devils in the seventh round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship held in Southwick. Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac was the best in both series and also took his fourth win of the season. Blake Baggett crossed the finish line twice as number two on the sand track at Southwick, which cost him some points in the title battle with Tomac. Who might forget the title is the Frenchman Marvin Musquin. In the first series, the Red Bull KTM rider took fourth place after a fall in the opening lap, but in the second series he had a serious crash and had to abandon the battle even with a damaged KTM. Finally, the third podium spot went to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Dean Wilson who was back on the podium for the first time after his 250 season in 2011.
In the standings, Eli Tomac strengthened his lead and now has a 19 point bonus over his closest pursuer Blake Baggett. For Marvin Musquin, who is in third place in the standings, the title fight seems to be far away with a deficit of 72 points to leader Eli Tomac.
In the 250 Class, Zach Osborne seems unstoppable anytime soon. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider took his fourth win of the season in Southwick with a second place and a series victory. Second place went to Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis (108) who put his European GP experience to good use in the sand. The Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha rider took victory in the first heat ahead of Osborne and Martin. In the second heat Ferrandis was always close to leader Osborne until he had a small crash and had to settle for second place. In the standings, Zach Osborne increases his lead and now has 45 points over Alex Martin. Dylan Ferrandis moves up to fourth place, 102 points behind leader Osborne.
