Tim Gajser tastes the other side of motocross…
MXGP World Champion Tim Gajser took the most points from his last five races in Agueda, Portugal last weekend, after making his comeback in Ottobiano, Italy after missing the Grand Prix of France and Russia. The HRC rider now seems to have recovered sufficiently to join the leading group of the premier class again.
Gajser, who is only just 20 years old and has already gained some experience in the sport, now had to deal with the other side of the sport. A heavy crash and failure to finish in Latvia immediately ruined his hopes of defending his title and taking a third in a row. He is currently in fifth place in the standings with 168 points behind Tony Cairoli.
“For me it is difficult because I always want to win every time I get on the bike, but now I have also tasted the negative side.” he said very matter-of-factly. “I have had that feeling of winning for two years now and everything went perfectly, but now I have had to taste the other side.”
The Slovenian also admits that his comeback in the Grand Prix was somewhat unprepared. “I had only ridden the bike four times before I went to Ottobiano and I had therefore not fully trained after my crash in Latvia. he sees. “We knew it would be difficult, but I was hungry to ride again and was no longer in pain. I was certainly not in good shape, but I am a bit disappointed because I did have the right speed. In this sport it can sometimes be really difficult, but I have resolved to come back stronger.”
Of the twelve rounds in the world championship, Gajser has won two and taken four podium finishes, only Cairoli has led more laps. Cairoli is the only other rider who has ridden in the red position this season.
