Pauls Jonass wins and continues in the MX2
Pauls Jonass has become the winner in Loket of the Czech MX2 Grand Prix. The Latvian leader in the standings took second place in the first series and won in the second series. It was already his sixth GP victory of the season for the Red Bull KTM rider. But what is more important for Jonass is that he extends his lead over Jeremy Seewer a little more. The Swiss Suzuki World MX2 rider did not get further than fifth and second place in Loket, thus seeing Jonass ahead of 47 points.
Second place in Loket went to Jeremy Seewer, but he still had to give up nine points in the duel with Pauls Jonass in the battle for the world title. Third place went to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Thomas Covington who won the first series in a very convincing way. In the second series, the American had a poorer start and had to work his way up from the background (27th) to tenth place and that was enough to just keep Kemea Yamaha rider Benoit Paturel off the podium.
Belgians below average in Loket…
From the Belgian side, Julien Lieber was still able to take a nice fifth place in the second series after he crashed in the first series and was only finished eighteenth. For Brent Van Doninck it was a weekend to quickly forget. After he had to retire on Saturday with mechanical problems, this was also the case in the first series on Sunday. In the second series the Kemea Yamaha rider was still able to take sixteenth place with the necessary five points. There were no points for Nathan Renkens on the flanks of the Loket circuit. In the world championship standings, Julien Lieber is in fifth place and Brent Van Doninck is ninth.
