The Black Cross fever is rising!!!
There is a lot of news to discover at the Zwarte Cross 2017. For motorcycle enthusiasts, there is first and foremost the final of the Dutch Masters of Motocross. A real GP field will be at the start here with a parade of domestic and foreign stars led by Jeffrey Herlings! But the 85cc, 125cc and MX2 will also be in action in Lichtenvoorde and then there are all the other music, stunt, theater and other unmentionable acts!
The largest paid festival in the Netherlands wants to surprise new and loyal visitors on July 13, 14, 15 and 16. This year, a festival beach, a food truck festival, a pub and a night bicycle repair shop are included in the program of the festival in Lichtenvoorde, which this year has the slogan 'Vaak Bu-j Te Bang!' conveys.
News from the cross track
On the dirt track, the top of international motocross competes for victory in the KNMV final Dutch Masters of Motocross. The 85 best riders in the Netherlands compete in the 125cc, 2cc, MX1 and MX30 classes, supplemented with 10 international top riders. For the MX1 final, among others, Jeffrey Herlings, Ken de Dycker, Max Nagl, Yentel Martens, Gautier Paulin, Arnaud Tonus, Micha-Boy de Waal, Ceriel Klein Kromhof, Jonathan Bengtsson, Sven van der Mierden, Max Anstie, Kevin Strijbos, Shaun Simpson, Maxime Desprey, Dennis Ullrich, Damon Graulus, Arminas Jasikonis, Romain Febvre, Filip Bengtsson en Evgeny Bobryshev.
In the standings, Herlings is first, Paulin second and Anstie third. The winner of the championship earns 30.000 euros, the number two receives € 15.000 and the number three € 8000. There are also an incredible number of top performers at the start in MX2: Jeremy Seewer, Thomas Kjer Olsen and Thomas Covington, Brian Bogers, Bas Vaessen , Nick Kouwenberg, David Herbreteau, Roan van de Moosdijk, Jago Geerts, Freek van der Vlist, Jed Beaton, Calvin Vlaanderen… You can find the complete participant lists here.
Thanks to the collaboration with the association, the Zwarte Cross became the largest official sporting event in the Netherlands in 2017!
Old and new masters
There are even more Dutch Masters at the Zwarte Cross: at the Theaterweide, visitors celebrate Rembrandt van Rijn's birthday at the Rijksmuseum Painting Workshop. Top sport on the cross track is traditionally alternated with fun cross classes. The cross track in the new United Color Race will have all the colors of the rainbow. Participants will fire color powder explosions from their cars. In the also new Power Toys class, adult children transform their children's toys into cross monsters.
A total of 40 stages and meadows
Swimming at the Zwarte Cross is possible for the first time this year on the Playa Gasolina festival beach; enjoy a splash or sunbathe with a cocktail in your hand against a backdrop of weathered dress-up houses and sun-tanned lifeguards. The Dance Floor finds a new home in the English Schans. Within the earthen walls of this renovated location from the Eighty Years' War, 5000 dance enthusiasts will dance on the battlefield. Life songs will be played in Café de Beugel and you can toast with beer from real brackets. In the Baterbar, live metal music makes its return to the Zwarte Cross. Thrill & Chill offers visitors the opportunity to be a bit of a stuntman themselves using a zip line.

Pedaling home in the middle of the night with a flat tire is a thing of the past: near the bicycle shed you will find the night bicycle repair shop for a quick repair. On the new Zwarte Cross website, visitors will find an overview of all locations, which are 40 in total. 32 of these locations are stages, which is one more than last year (with the addition of Café de Beugel).
Tickets, block schedule and accessibility
De Zwarte Cross sold 5 percent of all ticket types in the first 90 days after the start of presales. The largest festival in the Netherlands is not sold out: 14 percent of Friday tickets are still available. In the interactive block schedule on the Zwarte Cross website, the locations and performance times of all acts (in 2017 there are 234 bands, 800 theater artists and 33 stunt shows at 46 festival locations, including 32 stages) can be found with photos, biographies and videos. De Feestfabriek Alles Komt Goed B.V., the organizer of the Zwarte Cross, operates extra late trains from the nearby Lichtenvoorde-Groenlo train station and there are shuttle buses between the main entrance and the train station.
