BMB Hasselt: Erik Willems most regular!
It was coming and now the young Erik Willems has also won his first Belgian Championship victory! Willems only needed a first and third place to hold off Dietger Damiaens (3-2). Robin Bakens won the second heat and finished third on the podium.
The combined finals of the BK sidecars and the solo BK were clearly able to please the public again in Hasselt. As we are used to from MC Santi, the riders were also given a well-organized circuit.
In the first heat the ranking was completely turned upside down. Axel van de Sande was in the lead but quickly made a mistake Gordano Natale could benefit. To everyone's surprise, the National held its position at the front for a very long time! Erik Willems only crossed the line halfway through the race, but the fact that Natale continued to pick up well was even more surprising. So a win for Willems who finished with Natale at 3 seconds. BK leader Damiaens had to make every effort after he slipped in the second lap, he was second at the time. Dietger fell back to 12th place, although he managed to limit the damage by finishing 3rd, ahead of MCLB guest driver Jaimy Deleersnijder.
Damiaens, the obvious favorite, also made things difficult for himself in the second heat after a bad start. Made in front Robin Bakens the beautiful weather. The East Flemish rider sent his Kawa to the front after starting sixth. Bakens was therefore the fastest man in the race. Damiaens recovered to second place and took two extra points from Erik Willems in the title battle. In the standings, the DAM Racing KTM rider now leads with 9 points ahead of Willems. Axel van de Sande achieved his best result of the day with fourth place. Natale was again the best MX1 National, as he finished sixth overall in the wheel of 3, 4 and 5.
Leading role Tomas Kohut, victory Karka Dovydas!
In the Inters MX2 class, the foreign EMX250 riders had the upper hand. Poleman Tomas Kohut (KTM Diga Junior Racing) had already shown in Axel that he has fully recovered. After a mediocre start, the young Slovak took control of the field in the first moto and raced to victory unthreatened.
Sensation at the start of the second heat. Kohut went off spectacularly, but that did inspire him to do a great job! From last place he recovered to second place, although he had to acknowledge his superiority in Karka Dovydas (Creymert Racing) who had run too far ahead. Since the second heat is decisive, the Lithuanian did take the overall victory. The Dane Glenn Meier was third (3-4) on the podium.
