Everything about the spectacular Mini-GP of Kester-Gooik!
Kester's international motocross is no more, long live Gooik! AMC Dworp has not given up and will present the strongest Belgian international motocross in a long time this Sunday. In addition to the usual competitions for the Belgian Motocross Championship, the open Championship of Flanders is also on the program!
Okay, we admit, the reference to Kester can be a bit confusing. Because there is no doubt that the BK Motocross and the Championship of Flanders will take place in Gooik on Wijngaardstraat. Why the link with Kester? Because this competition has a proud, successful tradition. And the similarities are much more numerous than the differences!
World top motocross in the Pajottenland!
The organizing club AMC Dworp is once again presenting one beautiful, natural course. Well laid out, fun to drive for the pilots and very clear for the spectators. As we like AMC Dworp normal, we also worked very hard to complete the match as much as possible down to the last detail. This also includes paddocks and parking lots in the immediate vicinity of the circuit.
The circuit was redrawn as last year by Wim Vanderheyden en Steve Ramon. Ramon himself will also be present. It is evident that the two-time world champion is no longer playing for victory. If only for his throttle control and cornering technique, it is a treat to see the grandmaster at work on this circuit!
Established values against young violence
The competition in Gooik primarily counts towards the Belgian Championship. At the Inters MX1 there is a titanic battle between the emerging talents Dietger Damiaens (leader in the Belgian Championship) and the 19-year-old Erik Willems (this year, including a podium in the EMX300!) which has grown into the Belgian revelation of the season in recent months. In addition, the usual men who compete in the Belgian Championship also go like this Roy Siliën, Axel van de Sande en Robin Bakens starts in Gooik.
However, this Sunday they will compete against a very strong international field with almost all Belgian top players Jeremy Van Horebeek to Kevin Strijbos, Ken De Dycker, Brent Van Doninck, Damon Graulus, Jeffrey Dewulf, Steve Ramon, Jens Getteman, Jago Geerts en Nick Trieste are at the start. But there is also stiff foreign competition Armin Jasikonis, Thomas Covington en Calvin Flanders! With strong participants in the MX1 and MX2, the heats in both classes promise a spectacle, but the big attraction will of course be the Championship of Flanders. This is a Super Final for the 20 best MX1 en 20 best MX2 riders. In addition to the big guns, other categories such as youth, promises, seniors and leisure riders also get their money's worth.
