Countdown to the Championship of Flanders in Gooik!
AMC Dworp is preparing for an absolute hit! On July 30, the club will organize the Championship of Flanders on a new circuit at “Hof te Wijngaard” in Gooik. As befits a top organization, they are in the Kester tradition with a very clear circulation and a series of buzzing names!
After a one-off competition at the “Everaet” last year, AMC Dworp now hopes to have found a permanent place at the site “Hof te Wijngaard” in Gooik. AMC Dworp chairman Ivan Vogeleer: “Mayor Doomst of the municipality of Gooik looked for and found a suitable location to organize an international motocross competition. We have a plot of 13 hectares at the new location. As a result, paddocks and parking lots are in the immediate vicinity of the circuit. Like last year, the circuit was redesigned by Wim Vanderheyden and Steve Ramon. The aim was to create a nice technical course for the pilots. But the spectators have also been taken into account, they can enjoy this very clear circuit from anywhere.”
The competition in Gooik does count towards the Belgian Championship. However, the big attraction on July 30 will be the Championship of Flanders. This is a Super Final for the 20 best MX1 and 20 best MX2 riders. Almost all Belgian top athletes, from Jeremy Van Horebeek to Kevin Strijbos, Ken De Dycker, Brent Van Doninck, Damon Graulus, Jeffrey Dewulf, Steve Ramon, Jens Getteman, Jago Geerts and Nick Triest, are at the start. But there is also stiff foreign competition with Arminas Jasikonis, Thomas Convginton and Calvin Vlaanderen. In addition to the big guns, other categories such as youth, promises, seniors and leisure riders also get their money's worth.
