VMCF: Steve Seronval boss in-house!
As usual, the classic on the beautiful Moresnet circuit attracted almost 800 riders during the Pentecost weekend. The organizer had moved heaven and earth (literally because 75 trucks of new earth were brought in) every 55th edition of this race to run smoothly, followed by a crowd of spectators who were reminiscent of the peak days of motocross. Home rider Steve Seronval beamed on the highest podium in the evening after a first series that was more than exciting.
After all, it was Karel Schepmans who had taken the lead and the Honda rider immediately started walking on the steep slopes in his well-known style. Kevin Van Geldorp and Frederic Weigert were less lucky and had to immediately pick up the bike while they really accelerated at the front. However, Schepmans gave up his lead when he braked to death and Jens Carlier also had the same problems. As a result, Roel Geurts and Steve Seronval joined and Geurts in particular seems completely back to normal after his wrist injury. He won the first round ahead of Steve Seronval and Karel Schepmans and the fastest man on the track, Frederic Weigert. Dennis Wagemans rounded out the top five ahead of Matthias Plessers and Kevin Gauniaux.
The final series was a jousting match between Roel Geurts, Frederic Weigert and Steve Seronval that kept the viewers watching until the last round. Seronval now won his battle and won ahead of an exhausted Frederic Weigert and Roel Geurts. Matthias Plessers now finished fourth ahead of Dennis Wagemans and the best MX2 rider Killigan Delroeux.
Steve seronval took a nice victory for his home crowd ahead of Roel Geurts and Frederic Weigert. The MX2 class was dominated by Killigan Delroeux and the B series went smoothly to Donny Van De Kerkhove.
Next weekend will be all about the IMBA battle in the MX2 class at Fort Van Koningshooikt. On Saturday the youth will compete in their IMBA competition with participants from six countries, while on Sunday the second MX2 IMBA test is planned + a full VMCF program.
