“Una vera dimostrazione” by Tony in Ottobiano…
Antonio Cairoli gave a real demonstration in his own country during the Grand Prix of Lombardia in Ottobiano, Italy. Even the heat of 32 degrees on the thermometer could not stop the Sicilian from winning both series. Only Jeffrey Herlings was able to offer some resistance, but in the end he had to give up the mastery of grandmaster Antonio Cairoli.
Jeffrey Herlings was the only rider who could stay close to Cairoli and took the second podium place, but the rest simply did not come close to the two Red Bull KTM riders. Third place went to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Max Anstie who took his first ever MXGP podium. For the rest, Paulin, Desalle, Febvre and Gajser had to give up a lot of points in the World Cup standings.
Tropical heat means meager points gains…
After two GP victories in a row, Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Clement Desalle did not get further than eighth and seventh place in the series, losing 23 points to leader Antonio Cairoli in one fell swoop. The conditions were not easy due to the enormous heat during the weekend and our other compatriots were clearly affected by this. The 24MX Honda riders Ken De Dijcker (17-19), Damon Graulus (19-21) could only get a handful of points. Finally, Jeffrey Dewulf rode to a good 16th place in the second series.
