Tonus and Seewer take pole in Orlyonok, Russia
Today in Orlyonok, Russia, we had the Qualifying Races for the tenth round of the MXGP World Championship. Arnaud Tonus (MXGP) and Jeremy Seewer each took victory in their class and will therefore be on Pole for the Russian Grand Prix tomorrow.
MXGP
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna riders Max Nagl and Gautier Paulin immediately took command of the MXGP Qualifying Race. It looked like one of these two Husky riders was going to take the win, but first Max Nagl made a mistake and a few laps later it was Gautier Paulin's turn. So we got Wilvo Yamaha rider Arnaud Tonus in the lead who then took the win ahead of Paulin and Cairoli. Clement Desalle was able to keep a very persistent Romain Febvre behind him in the final laps and finished fourth. For our compatriots from the 24MX Honda team with Ken De Dijcker and Damon Graulus, there was no more option than a 14th and 15th place. For Jeremy Van Horebeek, the Qualifying was over just after the start when he was seriously tackled in the very first corner and immediately drove to the Pitlane and probably had to abandon the battle due to a finger injury.

MX2
In the MX2 class, victory in the Qualifying Race went to Suzuki World MX2 rider Jeremy Seewer ahead of Benoit Paturel and Thomas Covington. The Belgian side looked very good with two compatriots in the top five in the last five minutes, until Kemea Yamaha rider Brent Van Doninck, who was riding fourth at the time, lost control of his Yamaha and crashed into the Monster Energy finish arc and had to stop the fight immediately. Julien Lieber, who rode in second place, suffered some mechanical problems and dropped to fourth place in the closing laps. For the leader in the standings Pauls Jonass, this Qualifying started well by immediately taking the lead, but on the third lap the Latvian rider broke his front wheel and was forced to go to the pits. Ultimately, the Red Bull KTM rider would finish in 17th place.
