Tomac and Plessinger win AMA National at Muddy Creek
Eli Tomac won the fifth round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Muddy Creek. This was the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider's second victory after winning the opening race in Hangtown. Second place went to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Jason Anderson who won the first series but had to beat Eli Tomac in the repeat and finished second. The third podium place went to the leader in the standings Blake Baggett, who twice crossed the finish line as number three.
It was another disaster weekend for Frenchman Marvin Musquin, in the first series the Red Bull KTM rider did not get further than seventh place. But the second series became even more disastrous when he was forced to retire with a damaged front brake. In the standings, Blake Baggett continues to hold the leading position, but now sees Tomac approaching within four points.
In the 250MX class, the day's victory went to Aaron Plessinger of the Yamaha Star Racing team. Plessinger took first and second place in the heats, keeping Zach Osborne and Austin Forkner behind him in the final standings. Jeremy Martin who was second in the standings made less progress in Muddy Creek with a 13th and 6th place in the heats. This of course played into the hands of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Zach Osborne who was able to increase his lead in the standings over the Martin brothers. The Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis (9-15) did not have a great weekend either and drops to ninth place in the standings
