Pauls Jonass best MX2 mud devil in Russia
Pauls Jonass was the best mud devil in Orlyonok, Russia, and took second and third place in the Russian Grand Prix. No matter how beautiful and good the circuit was on Saturday, how bad it was on Sunday due to the heavy rainfall during the night and Sunday afternoon. So it was just survival on Russian soil.
The opening series was completed under heavy rain where Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Thomas Kjer Olsen took the win ahead of Pauls Jonass and Benoit Paturel. Our compatriot Julien Lieber finished eleventh and Kemea Yamah rider, who crashed hard during the Qualifying on Saturday, already drove back to the riders' park after a number of laps.
In the second series the driving was even worse and in the opening round we received a withdrawal from the winner of the first series Thomas Kjer Olsen who immediately got stuck in the mud. The victory now went to Suzuki World MX2 rider Jeremy Seewer who, apart from second man Brian Bogers, lapped everyone including third man and GP winner Pauls Jonass. Julien Lieber now takes a good fifth place and Brent Van Donink did not start in this second series.
In the standings, Pauls Jonass increases his lead over second man Jeremy Seewer by three points. The difference is now already 45 points with nine games to go. Julien Lieber is currently in fourth place and Brent Van Doninck drops back to tenth place in the standings.
