EMX250: Furlotti wins, Geerts has a difficult race…
Italian Simone Furlotti has won the Russian round of the EMX250 European Championship. It was Furlotti's second of the season after his victory in the opening match in Trentino. Second place went to the Frenchman Mathys Boisrame and the British Dylan Walsh was third on the podium. The series in Orlyonok, Russia, was won by Mathys Boisrame and the American Tristan Charboneau.
Jago Geerts had a difficult match…
Our compatriot Jago Geerst, who became Junior World Champion 125 last year on this same circuit in Orlyonok, Russia, was less fortunate a year later when he saw the circuit again. After a mediocre start in the opening series, he crashed twice more and would eventually finish thirteenth. Due to the heavy rainfall on Saturday night, the circuit became somewhat muddy. Jago was now in a slightly better position after the opening lap of the second series and would eventually cross the finish line in seventh place in this mud race.
This was certainly not a good race for the Sahkar KTM rider as he lost one place in the standings and ended up in third place, 35 points behind leader Morgan Lesiardo. Perhaps some luck in such an unfortunate match for Geerts, because the leader in the standings could only get one point more on Russian soil than Geerts in this fifth match of the championship.
