Emil Weckman to KTM Diga Junior Racing Team!
KTM Diga Junior Racing Team is pleased to welcome Emil Weckman (15) to the team for the remainder of the EMX125 Championship. The talented Finn will make his debut on the KTM SX 125 in Ottobiano, the fourth round in the EMX125.
Two-time EMX150 champion Weckman started the season with Team JTech Racing, but the Italian formation was recently disbanded due to health problems of both partners. Although the 125cc rookie achieved encouraging results in national competitions, his results in the European Championship fell below expectations.
There are still five rounds to go in the EMX125 series where Weckman is currently 29th in the standings. Emil has already been selected for Team Finland to represent his country at the FIM Junior World Championship at the end of July in Lange Motokeskus, Estonia. In addition to his international program, Weckman will also participate in several Finnish and German competitions.
Emil Weckman: “The way Team JTech Racing had to decide to stop is of course very unfortunate. In any case, I am grateful to them for their help and the fact that they believed in me. Fortunately, we quickly reached an agreement with KTM Diga Junior Racing Team. I think I fit in well with the team and I am really looking forward to finishing the season with such a professional and motivated group around me. It's also funny to be part of a Belgian team where I have so many Finnish teammates! The first impressions of the KTM are very positive. The engine is powerful and very manageable, I am very curious to see how it will perform in the competitions!”
Dirk Saelen, KTM Diga Junior Racing Team owner and manager: “Emil is known for his positive attitude and his fighting spirit. He is someone who has been on 'our radar' for a while. No one was keen for his previous team to quit. But as a driver it is of course exceptionally difficult to deal with this during the season. That is why we are happy that we can help Emil and his family in this way. Our first goal now is to get Weckman used to his new bike as best as possible and to prepare Ottiobiano in the best possible way.”
