ADAC: Dewulf and Getteman are just behind the podium
Yesterday our compatriots performed more than decently in the ADAC competition in Bielstein. The question was whether they could match or even improve on these strong performances today.
In the Youngsters class we were looking forward to Thomas Vermijl's result. He managed to qualify for today with a tenth place yesterday and he approached this position again in the final results. With fifteenth and twelfth places he took eleventh place overall. The victory in Thomas Vermijl's class went to Martin Krc. The young Czech finished fourth in the first heat, behind winner Michael Sandner, Jeremy Sydow and Tom Koch. This fourth place was enough because Krc managed to win the second round ahead of Tom Koch and the Slovakian Richard Sikyna, who was only tenth in the first round. The winner of the first series Michael Sandner dropped just a few too many points with a sixth place and was therefore 3 points short of the day's victory.
Martin Krc beat Tom Koch with 43 points, who had one point less. Tom Koch, in turn, had enough 42 points to leave Michael Sadner stranded on 40 points.
In the MX Masters category we had to wait to see whether our compatriots, after their strong performance in the qualifications, would also be able to play for the victory and the close places of honor.
Unfortunately not for the victory, because one man was slightly stronger than the rest today in Bielstein, this man who won both heats was not coincidentally Dennis Ullrich. However, in both these rounds the Germans were kept down to earth by one of our compatriots. In the first heat it was Jens Getteman who offered strong resistance by finishing close to second place. This for Angus Heidecke, Jaromir Romancik and our other compatriot Jeremy Delincé. Jeffrey Dewulf in turn finished twelfth after a start just outside the top twenty, Nathan Renkens and Kevin Fors remained scoreless in this first round.
In the second moto things went wrong at the start for Jens Getteman. The man who finished second in the first heat was one of the last to pass after one lap. Jeffrey Dewulf in turn had a better start by coming through in around tenth position. The man from Jabeek went on a rampage in search of glory and rolled up one opponent after another. Jeremy Delincé, who was in sixth place at the time, also dropped out a little later. However, this would be a concern for Jeffrey Dewulf who also passed Jaromir Romancik. He then took advantage of Hunter Lawrence's retirement to finish in second place, just under six seconds behind Dennis Ullrich, ahead of Jaromir Romanic, Christian Brockel and Angus Heidecke who completed the top five.
And what about Jens Getteman? The Kawasaki pilot rode his own race in the race in search of as many points as possible for the championship and ended up in a more than creditable twelfth place. Nathan Renkens in turn just missed out on scoring points in twenty-first place and both KMP Honda pilots Kevin Fors and Jeremy Delincé had a sour “Did Not Finish” in this second heat.
A women's match was also contested in Germany, where New Zealand's Courtney Ducan proved to be the strongest in both series against Larissa Papenmeier and Dutch Nicky van Wordrageren.
