24MX Tour: Arch champion, Graulus 2nd in Pernes-Les-Fontaines
It was still exciting for the final of the French 24MX Tour because the difference between leader Xavier Boog and Valentin Teillet was only 6 points. In the end, 'Boogie' made it, he won the race in Pernes-Les-Fontains ahead of our compatriot Damon Graulus. In MX2 the title went to Florent Richier.
Hot weather, a real French hard track with a lot of dust and a good dose of drama! The last race of the French 24MX Tour could have been even more difficult! Damon Graulus seemed to be on his way to the holeshot in the first moto until Greg Aranda unleashed a game of 'carom', dragging along about ten riders. Besides Graulus, Potisek and Aubin also perished. Boog escaped unscathed and immediately carried out the forsing. Teillet first passed Imbert for second place but could not approach Boog.
However, a few laps before the end, Teillet retired with a broken crankcase. In his own words, after contact with Fabien Izoird early in the match and that Izoird is a teammate of Boog, Teillet delicately added. Not everyone agreed with the lecture. Between the heated Frenchmen, Graulus delivered a hell of a catch-up race. After coming in with a bent handlebar, Damon fought his way all the way from the back to fourth place!
Teillet did make his mark in the very dusty second heat. He dominated the race and made it ahead of Greg Aranda and Xavier Boog. Graulus finished fourth again and that regularity earned him second place in the daily rankings. Although Damon missed one race, he still finished seventh in the final standings of the 24MX Tour!
