VMCF: Kenny Janssens and John Cuppen as trendsetters!
Lommel was the third sand track in a week for the VMCF riders and the sand month ended in a beautiful way at the Heeserbergen. Kenny Janssens was not yet on the list of winners at VMCF this year, but the KTM rider put an end to that in Lommel. The MX2 class was named by IMBA champion John Cuppen.
However, the first heat was started well by Frederic Weigert and Joshua Feytons, while Roy Sillien, Glenn Bielen and Jeremy Joris were in a pile in the first corner. Weigert was able to hold out at the front for a surprisingly long time until the trio of Davey Janssens, Kenny Janssens and Matthias Plessers showed up. Kenny Janssens took over the lead quite quickly and would never look back. Matthias Plessers had his hands full with Dutch star Davey Janssens, who finished in an excellent third place. The battle for fourth place was particularly intense because Frederic Weigert came under heavy fire from John Cuppen and Jerome Benonit. Ultimately, John Cuppen would park his MX2 bike in fourth place ahead of Frederic Weigert and Jerome Benonit. Joshua Feytons held up well against the two youngsters from the inter series, Glenn Bielen and Killigan Delroeux.
The final series now started better for Roy Sillien, who celebrated his comeback after his broken wrist with a holeshot ahead of Matthias Plessers and Jerome Benonit. However, Plessers made a serious mistake in the second corner, which also caused Davey Janssens and Kenny Janssens to be held up for a while. With Sillien in the lead ahead of Benonit, the Suzuki camp at VMCF went crazy. Joshua Feytons followed in third ahead of Frederic Weigert and the Dane Sam Cornelissen. Roy Sillien put a lot of effort at the front, but had to retire after six laps in the leaden heat, leaving teammate Jerome Benonit in the lead. The top players were not sitting idle in the meantime, as Benonit was joined by Glenn Bielen and John Cuppen. The two MX2 riders just missed each other and that resulted in a slide for Glenn Bielen. John Cuppen immediately got going and took the lead until he was caught up again on the last lap by the trio Benonit, Kenny Janssens and Killigan Delroeux. It was a battle until the finish jump, with John Cuppen taking a nice victory ahead of Jerome Benonit, Kenny Janssens and Killigan Delroeux. Frederic Weigert was able to close the top five again ahead of Davey Janssens and Matthias Plessers.
The biggest cup at the Inters A was of course reserved for Kenny Janssen, Jerome Benonit and the regular Frederic Weigert. In the B class, Glenn Bielen took a new victory while John Cuppen became a laureate at the inters MX2. Next appointment on Whit Monday at the beautiful circuit of Moresnet.
