VMCF: Double victory for reborn Eric Foguenne in Paal
Twice he had a considerable lead at the finish, the second time by even more than 12 seconds. Eric Foguenne was clearly the strongest in Paal. Jeremy Joris continued his winning streak in MX2.
No fewer than forty inters were at the start for this classic on the VMCF calendar and it was Axel Nijs who immediately claimed the holeshot ahead of Donny Schmidt, Jeremy Joris and Jochem Walckiers. Frederic Weigert and Eric Foguenne were also still in the top ten and were quickly joined by Nolan Cordens, Junior Slegers and Kenny Vandueren. At the front it went too fast for Axel Nijs who had to take over the role and fell, causing Jochem Walckiers to also get into trouble. This allowed the trio Donny Schmidt, Frederic Weigert and Eric Foguenne to run away like rabbits. Eric Foguenne made his debut in Paal on the Yamaha and was truly unstoppable. He rode straight into the lead and would never relinquish it. Nolan Cordens also had to slow down when he could no longer hold his handlebars due to blisters and disappeared from the leading group. By the way, it rained and crashed in that first series, causing Mark Boot, Steve Dosquet, Eli Helsen and Axel Nijs to disappear from the race. Frederic Weigert held second place this time ahead of Donny Schmidt and Jeremy Joris who could keep Kenny Vandueren under control.
The final series started immediately with a crash for Kenny Vandueren and Kenny Brouir, who were immediately allowed to chase. It was now Jochem Walckiers who had taken off like an arrow from a bow and anyone who thought that the BMB national would have to back down quickly was disappointed. The KTM rider remained in the lead for half the series until the duo of Frederic Weigert and Eric Foguenne showed up again. Foguenne was truly outstanding in Paal and flew past everything and everyone. Frederic refuses came second again ahead of Jochem Walckiers who held his own against Nolan Cordens and Mark Boot who had passed Donny Schmidt and Jeremy Joris in the last round.
At the inters A, Eric Foguenne was beaming on the podium with a double series victory. He got Frederic Weigert and Jochem Walckiers on stage. In the MX2 class, Jeremy Joris continued his winning streak. Now he was the better of Killigan Delroeux and Tim Wirtz. Among the B drivers, no one could match Glenn Bielen, who had Tony Bogaert and Donny Vandekerkhove next to him.
Looking forward
The list of impressive circuits will continue next weekend when the VMCF members will travel to the Landsaart in Veldhoven, Netherlands. A Belgian Championship is planned for the vintage cars on Saturday.
