Ryan Dungey 450SX AMA Monster Energy Supercross Champion 2017
Ryan Dungey is the new 450SX AMA Monster Energy Supercross Champion 2017. For Dungey this is the third time in a row and in total it will also be his fourth title in the 450SX Supercross class. The Red Bull KTM rider headed to Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium with a nine-point lead over nearest competitor Eli Tomac.
The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac therefore had to count on a setback from Dungey to be able to win the title. Tomac led almost the entire race with Ryan Dungey in his wake. But for Tomac this was not enough to take the title and he started to push the pace in the closing laps so that more riders could join and hopefully take their place between him and Dungey so that the points difference could increase a bit more. So it became a cat and mouse game in the final round where Jason Anderson ultimately emerged as the winner ahead of Tomac and Grant. Dungey crossed the finish line in fourth place, which was enough to win the 450SX AMA Monster Energy Supercross title for the third year in a row.
