Desalle wins exciting French MXGP
Clement Desalle has become the final victor of an extremely exciting Grand Prix of France. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider took fourth place in the first series and became the brilliant winner of the second series. This was Desalle's 21st Grand Prix victory of his career and also the first Belgian GP victory of the season in the MXGP class.
Second place went to the leader in the standings Antonio Cairoli (2-3), who managed to extend his lead over the unfortunate Slovenian due to the retirement of defending champion Tim Gajser. Of course, a Frenchman also has to take a place on the final podium in France and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Gautier Paulin made sure of that with a sixth and second place in the series. Teammate Max Nagl was victorious in the opening series, but still missed out on the podium with the same number of points as Paulin.
Jeremy Van Horebeek, who finished third behind winner Nagl and Cairoli in the first series, finished sixth in the second series, which gave him fifth place in the final standings. Of our other compatriots, only Ken De Dijcker managed to score one point in the opening series and 24MX Honda rider Damon Graulus did not score in either series.
