VLM Ranst: Kenny Janssens again!
Kenny Janssens has clearly been in good form in recent weeks. In Ranst the KTM rider took the lead with a fourth place in the first moto and a victory in the second moto! Reigning champion Wesley Verheyen (2-3) finished second ahead of Dietger Damiaens (8-2). Immediately the first VLM podium for Damiaens!
VLM spread its wings in Ranst on the beautifully prepared circuit with a length of 1600 meters. The VDS team led by Nico Van Der Schraelen had everything neatly arranged again and they can look back on a successful weekend that was also rewarded with good public interest.
After a tough 2016 with the construction of his house, Janssens can once again focus more on the sport and the competition will have known that! Yet he was not simply given the overall victory. Wesley Verheyen was second in the first race but quickly moved to the front. Wes led the entire heat, but in the penultimate lap he had to let go of a driven Dieter Vromans, also the fastest in the qualifications. Great work by the Arendonk MX2 pilot who also became first overall! Dieter once again showed that he is the equal of that other MX2 top rider Jonathan Banken. He came third ahead of Kenny Janssens and Wouter Van Massenhoven.
After the break the second heat is on the menu. Kenny Janssens takes the lead ahead of Kevin van Geldorp and Jonathan Banken. Janssens rides strong and easily wins the second round and can immediately call himself the overall winner in the MX1 class. Dietger Damiaens climbs to 2nd place and finishes less than 3 seconds behind Janssens. Wesley Verheyen, who came through the first round in seventh place, did not give up and started chasing his predecessors and after a great battle Verheyen was rewarded with 3rd place. Kevin van Geldorp had to give up two places but finished in a nice fourth place. Banks finished 5th and collected the most points in the MX2 class.
A special mention goes to the young Greek Emmanouil Kritikos from MX De Buiting. Kritikos is apparently gradually finding his way on the VLM circuit. Ranst had his best race of the season with a nice 6th place in the second series.
