VLM Haacht: Janssens and Banken triumphants!
The second test of the inters MX1-MX2 took place at the Kasteeldreef in Tildonk-Haacht. The big triumphant in the MX1 was Kenny Janssens, he won the race but also took home the most championship points. This also makes Janssens the new leader in the championship. Banks was the best MX2 pilot, with two series victories he added 50 points in the battle for the title!
Excellent conditions today for the organization of MC Cauwberg. Wesley Verheyen was a fraction faster than Steve Seronval during the time training. Verheyen also set the fastest lap during both heats.
In the first heat Verheyen took the holeshot, followed by Jens Van Meer and Kristof Salaets. Verheyen was heading for the series victory while Kenny Janssens worked his way forward from 6th position lap after lap and came 2nd under the checkered flag. Jonathan Banken was the best MX3 rider in 2rd place, but before that happened he had managed to pass six riders. Jens Van Meer occupied 4th place and 5th was Steve Seronval.
Steve Seronval was the first to get away at the start of the second heat, followed by Janssens who quickly took over the lead. Verheyen took a poor start and worked his way towards Janssens' rear wheel after Seronval disappeared from the front. There was a nice duel between Janssens and Verheyen that the audience enjoyed! Both men were evenly matched. Verheyen made a small mistake and was relegated to 3rd place by the emerging Jiliani Cambre. Janssens was the better in Haacht and won the second round ahead of Cambre and Verheyen. Banks became the best MX2 rider with a 9th place.
