Five in a row for Eli Tomac
Five in a row for Eli Tomac… The Monster Energy Kawasaki took its eighth win of the season in The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis. With this victory, Tomac sneaks a little closer to the leader in the standings Ryan Dungey. In the SX250 East Coast, victory went to Jordon Smith for the second weekend in a row.
In St.Louis we already had the 13th race of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross series. Ryan Dungey took the holeshot ahead of Tomac and Anderson, but it was Eli Tomac who took over command from Dungey a few corners later. Marvin Musquin also immediately took third place and started attacking Red Bull KTM teammate Ryan Dungey's position. Dungey was able to block these attacks well and even got back on leader Tomac until he got into the wheel of Chad Reed who was in sixteenth place. Dungey lost a lot of time behind Reed and this seemed to be the decisive phase of the race. Dungey certainly showed his displeasure to the Australian Yamaha rider after the finish. This was a gift for Tomac and he took his fifth victory in a row, but what is certainly most important is that the Kawa rider now comes within four points of Dungey with only three races to go.
In the SX250, victory for the second week in a row went to Troy Lee Designs-Red Bull KTM rider Jordon Smith. The leader in the standings Joey Savatgy took second place, but now sees Smith within six points with two games to go. Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis fell just off the podium with his fourth place, just like last week.
