Tomac beats Dungey to become sole leader…
Eli Tomac took his ninth win of the season in Salt Lake City and becomes the new leader in the standings with only two races remaining in the 450SX championship. The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider was only in tenth place after the opening laps, but was able to systematically work his way up. Once Tomac was in second place, the gap with leader Dungey was just over three seconds, but Tomac drove to Dungey in no time and only needed two attacks to take over the leading position. Once in the lead, Tomac extended his lead to six seconds over second man Dungey and convincingly won the 450SX final. With two races to go, Tomac now takes the lead and has a lead of just three points over defending champion Ryan Dungey.
In the 250SX West Coast class, Justin Hill took the title in Salt Lake City with just one race remaining in the championship. The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider only had to finish third in the Main Event and thus has 26 points more than the winner at Rice-Eccles Stadium, Shane Mcelrath. Justin Hill therefore takes the title in the 250SX West Coast class early with one point.
