Four different winners in VLM Easter Trophy!
The Fun MX Team led by Tony Geysels was responsible for the organization of the three-day Easter Trophy that was held in Lummen, Limburg. On Saturday the youth riders could get started on the well-prepared track. Cédric Grobben and Jonathan Banken won the first part of the Easter Trophy on Sunday. On Monday the win went to Jens Van Meer and Kevin Schellens.
The Easter Trophy in the VLM ranks was held over two days. On Sunday there was a championship test for the inters class. A lot was expected of club pilot and 2016 champion Wesley Verheyen.
39 riders volunteered for the Inters, including Cedric Grobben. The fast Limburger immediately left his mark. During timed training he set the fastest time and he was also the fastest in both heats. He dominated both heats from start to finish and was a deserved winner on Sunday.
Grobben took the holeshot and never relinquished this first place. His opponents had to settle for the places of honor. Seronval fought a duel with Banken. Halfway through the race, Banken took over second place from Seronval. Janssens rode a consistent race in fourth place. Cambré finished 9th during the first pass and managed to climb to fifth place towards the end.
The second heat was also dominated by Grobben, against whom little could be said. Janssens in second place with Verheyen on his heels, but in the 4th lap Kenny managed to advance to second place. Meanwhile, Banks was also on the rise. Verheyen had to deal with bad luck (tire broke off). Banks passed Janssens and took second place. Cambré also put Janssens back one place. Seronval finished fifth
In the daily rankings in the MX1 class, the win went to Grobben, ahead of Cambré and Janssens. Kenny Janssens also did an excellent job in the Championship standings! In the MX2 class the victory was reserved for Banken and he also increased his lead in the championship. Vromans was good for silver and Cools got bronze.

There were a lot fewer participants at the start on Easter Monday. No Grobben, nor Seronval or Banken at the start, luckily enough other driven riders! When the starting gate dropped, Van Meer was the first to round the bend, followed by Janssens, Greg Smets and Jilani Cambré. Cambré quickly overtook Smets and Janssens and Van Meer also fell prey to the eager Cambré. Cambré led for two laps and then crashed. This is how he missed out on his series victory. Van Meer came back into the lead and was able to finish this round calmly and was the first to come under the checkered flag ahead of Van Geldorp, who rode an impressive catch-up race and was rewarded with second place, Janssens came third.
No Cambré started in the second round, partly due to his fall in the first round. It was strange that Janssens also missed out on the heat and did not start again. Club pilot Wesley Verheyen was able to end the Easter weekend nicely with a series victory. Verheyen took the holeshot, followed by Van Geldorp, Van Meer and Jonas Salaets, nothing changed at the front and these boys also crossed the finish line.
Van Meer won the race ahead of strong Van Geldorp and Verheyen. Among the MX2 riders we saw a strong race from Van Mieghem who rose from 12th position to 5th place, he relegated Kevin Schellens to 6th position, but that did not alter the fact that Schellens became the overall winner in the MX2 Class.
