FFM Picardie: Two Belgians on the podium
A round for the FFM Picardie championship was held last weekend on the beautiful course of Plomion, about 25 kilometers across the border in France. There at the start we found two Belgians. This in particular Wietse Brackman and Robin Bakens.
In the first round it was also these two gentlemen, both playing for the French club MC Tilloy, who had a great time. Robin Bakens was in the lead for a long time until Wietse Brackman made an attack that the Waaslander on Kawasaki did not immediately expect. According to him, this was because he was convinced that the yellow flag was being waved. However, Bakens did not give up and tried to regain the lead on the following lap. Unfortunately without success, even worse both gentlemen hit each other and so both Leon Sagaert Husqvarna pilot Wietse Brackman and Bakens Motoren pilot Robin Bakens fell to the ground.
This mishap left the road open as a boulevard for Rodolphe Brouat to take the victory. This for Wietse Brackman who was able to quickly recover and David Gibot. Robin Bakens fell just outside the podium in fourth place.
The second round again gave those present a very tough Belgian duel, in which Robin Bakens, who started in the lead, did not give in a single millimeter to pursuer Wietse Brackman. Both went over the course at breakneck speed. Husqvarna pilot Brackman continued to race like a shadow behind Bakens, but this time he did not find the opportunity to take over the lead. It was Robin Bakens who won this second round ahead of Wietse 'WackoBracko' Brackman and Rodolphe Brouat very far behind.
The Super Final once again seemed to be a duel between our two compatriots, with both getting off to a strong start. Unfortunately, Robin Bakens quickly made a crucial mistake, allowing today's competitor Wietse Brackman to drive to victory relatively easily. This for, who else but, Robin Bakens and Rodolphe Brouat.
For the daily ranking, for which the super final did not count, the victory unfortunately did not go to our compatriots. Thanks to Rodolphe Brouat's victory in the first round and his third place in the second, the man from MC Hautes Vallees totaled 45 points. One point more than Wietse Brackman in second place, and two points more than Robin Bakens in third place.
