Breaking: Kevin Strijbos out of action
Things are not going well for Kevin Strijbos. The Suzuki World MXGP team rider will have to be sidelined for at least six weeks due to an elbow injury. For the next rounds, Arminas Jasikonis will be the only Suzuki factory rider in the MXGP class.
Strijbos suffered tennis elbow in the GP of Trentino, which is a tear in the muscle of the elbow. There was also inflammation. Meanwhile, Kevin already went under the knife yesterday.
During the first round in Valkenswaard, the Wuustwezel veteran tried to ride, but he had to give up due to the severe pain. Strijbos also did not start in the second heat
Kevin Strijbos: “The operation went well according to the doctor. The tear was repaired and the ignition was removed. I will have to wear a cast for the next ten days. We will then evaluate how my arm is doing and whether I can get a brace. It will take about four weeks before I can mountain bike again. Best case scenario, I'll be back on the bike in six weeks. I'll take it week by week. By coming back too quickly, there remains a chance that the inflammation will return." said a very disappointed Kevin Strijbos.
Due to Strijbos' setback and the succession of World Cup matches, there is a good chance that we will not see the #22 in action again until mid or even the end of June. In any case, we wish 'the Kid' a speedy recovery.
