VMCF: Vincent Collet takes first victory in Zoutleeuw
The VMCF riders were guests this weekend at the Limburg circuit of Zoutleeuw, where Marco Dessers' club created a perfect organization. The inters rode their first test there, but the pilots were present in all classes, which resulted in a fantastic race.
In the first heat we immediately rode very hard with Yerki Janvier, Frederic Weigert and Vincent Collet in leading roles. The trio dominated the series and despite Vincent Collet having to ride a spare bike, the title holder was able to hold his own. However, he was also no match for Frederic Weigert. Collet finished second ahead of the returning Yerki Janvier and Axel Nijs. Junior Slegers completed the top five. Standout Jeremy Joris had a real nightmare in that first moto due to several falls that forced him to throw in the towel early.
In the final series, Vincent Collet left with the knife between his teeth for Yerki Janvier and Junior Slegers. Frederic Weigert saw his start go wrong this time, but the Ardennes immediately attacked. His recovery would come to second place, but Vincent Collet would already be out of the picture. Axel Nijs crashed out of the race and Yerki Janvier again finished third ahead of Junior Slegers and Dennis Waegemans.
Vincent Collet took his first victory during this first test and shares the lead with Frederic Weigert. Yerki Janvier became the regular third man on the podium. In the B class, Donny Van De Kerkhove was once again able to take victory ahead of Tony Bogaert. The MX2 class finally fell to Tim Wirtz, who saw his regularity rewarded.
