24MX Tour: Boog win, Graulus third!
For the second round of six, the 24MX tour headed to Romagné in Brittany. Damon Graulus was in good shape and took a final podium thanks to a 4th and 2nd place. Victory went to Xavier Boog (Team Honda SR Motoblouz) ahead of Valentin Teillet (VRT 3AS Honda). In the Juniors-125cc category, Rick Elzinga dominated with two victories!
Since it had been a long time since Damon had ridden in Romagné, he could use his time in the morning to explore the track. In the qualifications, Graulus raced to the fourth fastest time behind Valentin Teillet, Xavier Boog and Gregory Aranda.
Despite a good start, Damon entered the first corner in around 10th place. Due to the compact circuit where overtaking options were limited, he then had to drive aggressively to make up ground. The 24MX Honda rider quickly climbed to 5th place. It was then difficult for Graulus to continue, but he got into a better rhythm towards the end. The multiple national MX2 champion eventually finished fourth in the wheel of Nicolas Aubin.
In the revival, Graulus was just in the top 5. He then took matters into his own hands and set out without any complexities in search of leader Boog. After two laps Damon drove to Boog and passed him smoothly. One lap later, Graulus slipped away from the front. As a result, Boog regained the lead, the young Belgian lost his rhythm for a while. Once he found his second wind, Damon became the fastest rider on the track. Despite his fastest lap of the race, the distance to Boog was unfortunately too great and he finished second at less than 7 seconds. Daymond Martens ended his day in 11th. In the standings of the French Elite Championship, Damon Graulus is now third, 15 points behind leader Xavier Boog.
Next weekend Damon Graulus will participate in the second round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen.
Damon Graulus: “I'm not very happy with the riding in the first heat. I know it can be much better. We made adjustments to the suspension for the second moto and with the necessary focus prior to the race, everything turned out well. Very stupid of that mistake because I should have actually won the second series! In terms of speed, it is good, now we still have two weeks to work on details before I ride my first Grand Prix of the year in Arco di Trento.”
