World Enduro Championship: Finns dominate in Finland
While some here are already crying for a 'pelleke moor', the start of the World Enduro Championship took place in the snow! The start of the Enduro Grand Prix took place around Lake Paijanne in Finland and the area is still nicely covered with a layer of snow. A situation that the home pilots clearly felt best about. In both the E2 and the EnduroGP class we saw victory go to the Finns, respectively to Eero Remes on his TM in the E2 class and Antti Hellsten on Husqvarna in the EnduroGP class. This EnduroGP class saw the entire podium filled with Finns on day one. In the E2 class, Pascal Rauchenecker ensured that this unique work of art did not repeat itself.
On the second day, Privateer Antti Hellsten from Finland was again the fastest in the EnduroGP class. However, the man who is working again today did not have any compatriots on the day's podium this time. The British Steve Holcombe and the Australian Matthew Phillips managed to fidget on the podium, adapting to the unique conditions. In the E2 class, victory again went to the Finn Eero Remes. This ensured that both Finns managed to set a perfect course in their home Grand Prix. In the E2 class the day podium on day 2 was completed by Josep Garcia and Henric Stigell.
