Tim Gajser lord and master in MXGP of Argentina
Reigning MXGP World Champion Tim Gajser has taken his first Grand Prix victory of the season with a double series victory. The Slovenian not only won in Argentina, but also became the new leader in the standings. Our compatriot Jeremy Van Horebeek took second and third place in the heats and took second place in the final standings of the Grand Prix.
Gajser wins first series ahead of Van Horebeek and Desalle…
Tim Gajser immediately took the lead in the first heat ahead of HRC teammate Evgeny Bobryshev. Our compatriot Jeremy Van Horebeek had a good start and immediately moved up to second place. Gajser and Van Horebeek immediately made some progress and so we had to look forward to third place where Bobryshev, Desalle and Febvre were in a duel. Here it was Clement Desalle who took third place ahead of Febvre and Bobryshev. At the front, Van Horebeek tried to put pressure on leader Gajser, but the HRC Honda rider did not yield and won the first series ahead of our compatriots Van Horebeek and Desalle. The leader in the standings Antonio Cairoli crashed in the opening lap and would eventually finish in ninth place. Finally, Kevin Strijbos took eleventh place ahead of the Dutchman Jeffrey Herlings.
Tim Gajser also rules in the second series…
Glenn Coldenhoff took his second holeshot of the day, but it was Clement Desalle who immediately took the lead for the HRC Honda boys. Desalle was allowed to hold the lead for about ten minutes, but then Gajser thought it was enough and took over the lead and then rode to the series victory without any resistance. We still had some battle for second place, for example Van Horebeek went over Desalle and Bobryshev also followed a little later. At the end of the series, Bobryshev put pressure on Van Horebeek for second place and succeeded. The HRC Honda team takes the double with Gajser and Bobryshev in this second series. Our compatriot Van Horebeek finished third ahead of Paulin and Cairoli, who crashed again and had to come back from the background. Kevin Strijbos now took ninth place and for Clement Desalle, who was in the lead for a while, things went from bad to worse and would eventually only cross the finish line in tenth.
