VLM motocross preview Balen
The annual VLM motorcross of DIGA Racing in Balen is almost as much of a monument as the Keiheuvel Motorcross! This weekend the first championship test is scheduled for the VLM Inters. But that's not all, there is also good news from Balen regarding the circuit.
DIGA has been organizing motocross at Keiheuvel for more than 10 years. But in addition to all the world's top riders at half-harvest, amateur crossers have been coming to this very challenging sandbox for much longer. “This year we have worked hard to improve the course,” says Dirk Saelen from Diga Racing, which organizes the competition in collaboration with the CKP racing team led by Paul Boeckaerts.
“The circuit has not only become a lot longer, the layout has also become much more beautiful. Because we also want the 50cc, 65cc and pit bikes to enjoy their cross on the Keiheuvel, we have a modified layout for Saturday's program that is versatile and at the same time adapted for the smaller motorcycles. On Saturday evening we adapt the circuit for adult riders. “
Saelen would rather not venture into making a prediction for his own match. “De Keiheuvel is a tough competition for everyone anyway. And it has often proven that it is an unpredictable race. Because it is the first championship match, I expect all tenors to be in position. Of course I hope that my own driver Miro Sihvonen will be able to show itself!” With Sihvonen, third in the Lommel EMX250 race last year, KTM Diga Junior Racing in any case, a big hit at the start.
Confirmed in recent weeks Cedric Grobben that he has taken shape early and he is also keen on a victory in Balen! Just in time for the first round of the championship Steve Seronval back with the win. After all, Seronval was the strongest in Vorselaar last weekend. Or what about one Jens van Meer who won last year at the Keiheuvel, reigning VLM champion Wesley Verheyen of Wouter Van Massenhoven?
Also back with a vengeance Jelle Grade. The crowd favorite makes his return after knee surgery last winter. Jelle 'The Great' Grade already took part in a MON race in Berghem last week, where he finished fifth in the first round. Competing for the podium is not yet an option for Jelle, but everyone is looking forward to seeing the #34 back at work!
Since there is insufficient interest from the sidecars, they are not on the program on Sunday.
