Preview ONK Motocross Axel
In the ONK the matches follow each other in quick succession. This Sunday, March 19, the 3rd race of the ONK MX Solo will be held in Axel. The combination of a strong field of participants and only 5 euros entry makes this competition a must for every motorsport fan!
Most riders are very familiar with Axel because of the good training options, which guarantees a high sporting level. That they at RES Axel We already saw last year that we like to go all out with the perfectly prepared track and the very successful opener of the Dutch Masters of Motocross.
Everything is also done for the ONK to make it an unforgettable day of motorsport. In Zeeland, the ONK 85 cc big wheels, ONK 125cc, ONK MX2, ONK MX1 categories to get started. After two races, there is already an indication of the power ratio, but with 12 races in the ONK MX1 and 10 and 15 races for the MX2 and 125cc respectively, the championship is still long. Plus, at the end of the day, everyone gets to drop their two worst results!
Dutch Masters of Motocross qualification
However, in Axel it is not just the day's victory that is being fought for. It is also very exciting for the qualification for participation in the Dutch Masters of Motocross, which starts on March 26 in Oss. To qualify for the DMoMX, as an MX1 or MX2 driver you must be in the top 30 of the ONK rankings. World Championship riders are exempt from this qualification. Check the full standings here.
Allowed in the MX1 Yentel martens en Jeffrey Dewulf, the final winners of Heerde and Mill are considered among the top favorites. In addition, also sit Rick Satink, Micha-Boy De Waal (No Fear Jumbo BT Motorsport) and Cyril Enjoyment in blood form!
The spectacular Swede Philip Bengtsson already performed at a high level in Axel last year. On Sunday the JH-MX Service pilot will once again be a dangerous outsider! However, with a select group of the best Dutch and Belgian non-GP riders, there is no shortage of quality. Just to name a few names Eric Leijtens, Dietger Damiaens, Sven van der Mierden (dream debut in the MX1!), Ceriel Klein Kromhof, but also Mike Kras (2016 European Champion EMX300) and Michael Hool.

Local and international youth talent
Also a lot of sounding names in the 85cc Jett Lawrence en Liam Evert from the World Suzuki team of Stefan Everts, Nikita Kucherov, Kay de Wolf, Kay Karssemakers and young lady Lynn Valk certainly also counts, plus many other contenders for the win. But also the regional drivers such as Mats Leeuwestijn, Floris van Gremberghe, Junior Bal en Denzel Vervaet, not off!
Young talents compete in the 125cc class as; Rick Elzinga, Raivo Dankers (leader in the standings) and Raf Meeuwissen. Mack Bouwense with Zeeland roots (now living in Gouda) is keen to score high points in Axel and also Daily of the Heresy (Vlissingen) will certainly continue to do his best.

RES Axel wants as many people as possible to taste their top event of the season! That is why the entrance prices are kept very democratic: only €5 for adults, from 16 years old. Entrance is completely free for children under the age of 15. The training sessions start at 9 am, the matches around 11 am!
