PR: Top 10 for Damon Graulus in Oss
Last weekend, Damon Graulus competed in the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Oss. The 24MX Honda rider finished 10th overall in a strong field.
No fewer than eight factory (supported) riders were at the start in Oss for the opening round of this prestigious championship. Graulus also had to compete against many international sub-toppers. In the timed training, the former Dutch MX2 champion set the 11th fastest time.
The MX1 field circuit stormed onto the Witte Ruysheuvel with forty riders. Since Damon had only started 15th, he faced a tough task. After the missed start, to make matters worse, he braked to death again on the fourth lap. Fighting in the suit, Graulus was able to break away from the competition and finished 30th after 12 minutes and one lap.
The second heat started much better for the young Belgian. He started in the wake of the absolute top riders and seemed to hold his ground, only Suzuki factory rider Jasikonis managed to pass him. The 24MX Honda rider rode a steady race, eventually crossing the line in 9th place, less than 4 seconds behind Filip Bengtsson.
Damon Graulus: “It was an okay weekend, but I am not 100% satisfied. I expected the result to be a bit better here. The first series in particular was difficult due to my bad start. In between we made adjustments to the engine and they paid off. The second heat certainly went smoother, but we know there is still a lot of work to be done.
The strong field of participants, the condition of the course with many holes and the duration of the competition made this a perfect preparatory competition. In any case, we have learned a lot for when the European GPs start soon. I feel good, both physically and mentally, now it's time to keep working hard so that we can reduce the gap with the (sub) top riders from the MXGP World Championship. Thank you in advance to the entire team and everyone who supports me.”
Next weekend Damon Graulus will participate in the second round of the 24MX Tour, the French Elite Championship in Romagné.
