Yannick Fabre replaces Petrov for the Argentine GP
Petar Petrov will have to miss the next World Cup round in Argentina. The Bulgarian still has to rest due to his ankle injury. Because all the material travels from Indonesia to Patagonia anyway, the Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing MX2 Team had to look for a replacement and he was found in the person of Yannick Fabre.
Petar Petrov started the season hurt, but a fall during the opening GP in Qatar was too much. Fortunately, Petar didn't break anything, but the ligaments were hit in the fall, so he now needs rest. “I can continue to train physically, so I will be fit when I can ride again in two weeks,” said the friendly Kawasaki pilot.
Petrov's replacement will be the 22-year-old Yannick Fabre. Fabre comes from Marseille and has several regional titles to his name. This spring he also appeared to be doing well. When Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing MX2 team owner Jean-Jacques Luisetti saw substitute Fabre at work recently and was immediately impressed. “We want to have three riders in every GP. Yann never had the financial means to ride outside his region, but he has already won five regional titles. There is no pressure for him, this is just an opportunity for a rider who deserves it. Petrov is scheduled to be able to ride again at the end of next week. Then we will see if he is ready to start in Mexico two weeks later.”
For Yann Fabre this is of course a dream come true. Fabre will play alongside in Villa la Angostura Adam Sterry en Stephen Rubini.
